About Us

What: We sell products that save you money on your energy bills. We’ll introduce you to service providers who can install smart insulation/heating/cooling/alternative energy systems in your home, or advise you on cost-effective ways to save energy. We also offer tips and buyers guides to help you make the right decisions for you, your family, and your home. If you log in to our site using Facebook Connect, you will be able to:

  • Track any savings you achieve when you use products bought on our site.
  • Publish newsfeeds that let your friends know what products you’ve bought and how much you’ve saved.
  • Showcase these savings to your Facebook friends with our savings tracker profile box.

By creating a regular HomeEnergySaver account (instead of or in addition to logging on via Facebook Connect), you will be able to track your savings on our site in the My Account section. You can also receive useful tips by email regarding new products, rebates, tax credits, and other advice on how to reduce your energy bills.

Why: In these trying financial times, a lot of us are looking for easy, sensible, affordable ways to reduce our monthly bills. It’s also nice to know that you can do something good for the environment at the same time. By making just a few small changes, and by switching out conventional inefficient products for the new products offered on our site, your house can be less dependent on the grid, and you can save water, too.

Our savings tracker providesyou with 3 measures of your possible savings:

  • Annual savings
  • Lifetime savings (that is, over the expected lifetime of your new products)
  • CO2 savings, measured in terms of trees saved. The logic here is the following: fossil fuel power plants emit CO2. Trees absorb CO2. There is a fairly standard measure of how much CO2 a typical tree can remove from the air. If you are using less energy at home, then the power plant that generates energy for your home needs to generate less energy for you, which means that less CO2 is emitted.  For every unit of CO2 not emitted into the air by a power plant, we equate this to the number of trees that it would take to absorb that same amount of CO2. Here is a diagram to demonstrate:

When: www.HomeEnergySaver.com launched in October 2009. We are now launching a revamped version, based on customer requests for particular information and products. We will launch our Service Finder section in June.

For our Service Finder section, we’re looking for recommendations for good, trusted energy auditors, insulation installers, and heating/cooling/alternative energy system installers, who we can plug in our online directory. If you’ve had a particularly good experience with an installer or contractor, we’d love to hear about it. You can send us an email to customercare@homeenergysaver.com. Energy Conservation Professionals who would like to be listed in our directory of service providers can do so here.

How can you become a HomeEnergySaver? : Login in using Facebook Connect; use our helpful savings calculator to find out how much you can save with specific products (given your zip code and its associated electricity rate). Start buying and, most importantly, using these simple products. Start your family down the path of a greener, healthier world with more money in your pocket!

Feedback: We’d love to hear your comments and feedback, either here on our blog or by contacting customercare@homeenergysaver.com
